Jet Rider Nation Beacon - Privacy Policy

Jet Rider Nation Beacon ("Beacon", "the app") is a free app from Jet Rider Nation that lets you share your coordinates and find nearby public boat ramps and marinas. This policy explains what the app does with information.

The short version

• Beacon has no accounts and does not ask for your name, email, phone number or contacts.
• It uses your device's location only while you are using the app, to do what you ask.
• We do not run servers that store your location, and we do not sell your data.
• The app has no advertising or analytics software and does not track you across other apps or websites.

Location

When you grant permission, Beacon reads your device's precise location while the app is open. It uses it to:

• Share your coordinates. When you tap "Share Your Coordinates", the app builds a message with your coordinates and a Google Maps link and opens your phone's standard share sheet. The message goes only where you choose to send it, through the app you choose (for example Messages, WhatsApp, Messenger or email).
• Find nearby places. When you tap "Find Nearest Boat Ramp" or "Find Nearest Marina", or search an area on the map, the app sends your location (or the map area you picked) to Google Maps Platform (the Places service) to get a list of nearby places, and shows them on a Google Map.

Beacon does not use your location in the background and does not keep a history of where you have been. You can turn location permission off at any time in your phone's settings; sharing and nearby search will then not work.

Third-party services

• Google Maps Platform displays the map and provides place information. Requests to Google include the location or area being searched and are handled under Google's Privacy Policy.
• Sponsor content. At launch the app downloads a small list of sponsors and their logos from our cloud storage (Amazon Web Services). Like any internet request, this lets the hosting provider see your device's IP address and general device information in its server logs. No location is sent in this request. Downloaded logos are saved on your device so they do not have to be downloaded again.
• Sharing apps. If you share your coordinates through another app, that app's own privacy policy applies to the message once you send it.

What we do not do

• We do not create user accounts or profiles.
• We do not collect advertising identifiers or use analytics or crash-reporting services.
• We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.

Data retention

Beacon does not store your location on any server we control. Location is used on your device and sent to Google only to answer your request.

Children

Beacon is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Not an emergency service

Beacon is a convenience tool. It is not an emergency service, may not work without GPS or a data connection, and place information from Google may be incomplete or out of date. In an emergency call 911 or use your marine radio (VHF channel 16).

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app's store listing.
